Vaastushastra has a profound impact not only on your residence but also on your workspace. It can influence your professional relationships in a positive manner and foster teamwork, creativity, and better productivity among colleagues and/ or staff members. Also, through this case study, it can be inferred that seating arrangement in an office, too, is extremely important, i.e., placing your employees in an appropriate direction according to their roles or professions is vital to their overall productivity. Also, did you know that the 5 elements of nature i.e., the Panchamahabhutas, viz., Air, Water, Earth, Fire and Sky (Space), can influence the overall productivity and wellbeing of your workplace?
The CEO of a manufacturing firm had invited us to inspect his office space. He was facing the challenge of being constantly under pressure and had some issues pertaining to productivity and relationships with his subordinates.
After inspecting this Vaastu, it could be seen that the CEO himself had occupied the Southeast direction. Southeast symbolizes ‘fire’ element. This had induced the CEO to be constantly under pressure or in the literal sense- ‘on fire’. Another important flaw was depicted through the seating positions of Level 2 and Level 3 employees in the Management positions. They had occupied the Southwest direction. This direction representing Earth element, indicates stability. This is generally the most appropriate direction for head of a family or organisation, who has the potential to influence or control rest of the family or staff members. As a result, these managers, too were exercising control over the CEO. We have read about the meaning and importance of Brahmasthan earlier. As you already know, this area should be light or unoccupied. However, the number of employees seated in the Brahmasthan was quite high and it was also occupied with files and waste materials.
We did perform some of the remedial measures. However, the very initial treatment suggested was regarding the seating arrangement in that office. We had suggested that by simply altering the positions of employees, better results could be achieved. Initially, the CEO himself and the employees, too were a bit reluctant to move away from their existing positions, but finally agreed to do so.
The first step taken was that the CEO occupied the Southwest direction- the direction for stability, influence and control. Accounts Department, Admin and HR occupied the North, Northeast respectively. One of the prominent reasons to place Accounts Team in the North region is because mythologically this direction is governed by Lord Kuber, the God of Wealth. He is believed to be the Accountant of Gods, i.e., of the Divine power. Northeast represents Water element. HR and Admin are expected to understand the mindset or feeling of the employees, are expected to be more empathetic, and carry everyone together ‘with the flow’ just as Water has the capacity to flow and flexibly try to adjust according to any shape or colour.
The Sales Team was placed in the Northwest direction. Northwest symbolizes ‘Air’ element. The Sales Team is expected to travel out of the office and promote sales of goods. It is anticipated and experienced that Air element speeds up the sales and plays a catalytic role in spreading the goods ‘along with the wind’ in different directions far and wide speedily. On the contrary, Digital Marketing Team was placed in the Southeast- the direction symbolizing ‘fire’ element. The fire element automatically enhanced their productivity as this Team needs to be constantly active and ‘on fire’ to achieve their targets. The Brahmasthan– representing Sky element, although occupied, was treated suitably to negate the flaws and challenges arising out of it being occupied.
The results could thus be seen. Treating the Brahmasthan enhanced better communication and coordination among employees and overall organisation. Better productivity enhanced achievement of targets in terms of sales and marketing, better flawless accounts and overall revenue enhancement. Unwanted people causing unnecessary disturbance in the office eventually left the organisation. Thus, the eight directions and five natural elements which form the basis of Vaastushastra can impact an entire organisation and so many lives within that organisation. Needless to say that the CEO became very positive, authoritative, strong and could lead the organization performance to newer unimaginable altitudes.
